WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Our CEO and founder, Anne, come from Tromsø in the Arctic region of Norway. She grew up passionately interested in dogs, even though her family did not get a pup until she was 12. By then she had basically memorized her favorite book about the worlds dog breeds, and grasped every opportunity to walk or pet any dog available. She loved them and they loved her! This is what she has to say;
I always felt a special connection to dogs. It didn’t matter if some considered them ugly or weird, or if it was a BIS champion – they were all beautiful! Dogs carry unmatched integrity and loyalty towards their human pack, and I was always fascinated by their complete and uncompromised willingness to sacrifice their own safety to serve and protect us. Such a valor must be treated with respect.
However, it was going to take decades for this interest to take the form of a startup company named Canion. After years of working in restaurants and offices, she decided to make her passion into a business. Because it was clear that the problems she was experiencing, was shared with dog owners around the world.
The idea came one day in early 2019 when she was making paracord collars for her dog, Floke. She decided to try to make a harness as well, because no store bought harnesses ever had the perfect fit, and they would always cause painful abrasions on Flokes delicate skin. After experimenting with many different solutions (and thanks to the endless patience of test bunny Floke), she found a new way that had never been tried before. Super exited, Anne and Floke started a journey together. They were going to make Floke and all his dog buddies around the world, a harness that did not twist and turn, hurt or restrict them. And that was the beginning of the Agile harness.
